As we go forward, may the peace of God be with you; and may we pray for that peace to be found throughout the great nation of Zimbabwe.

By Prayer and Fasting

duane In the face of entrenched evil
Man’s resources often fail
Be it Antichrist or Devil
God’s own Kingdom will prevail

Yet He calls on us to seek Him
Praying that His will be done
Not on thoughtless off the cuff whim
But ongoing petition

Christ’s Kingdom suffers violence
In the end we win the war
But battles call for vigilance
As we plan and then implore

For only by prayer and fasting
Do some strongholds quake and fall
Bringing freedom that is lasting
When we rally to the call

Nations now are at the crossroads
Swiftly running out of time
As corruption crassly corrodes
And inflation fosters crime

In Zimbabwe folks are dying
From starvation and neglect
Though the world grows deaf to crying
God has power to resurrect

There’s a day of prayer and fasting
On Zim’s Independence Day
Needing more than news broadcasting
As we ask the world to pray

For a worthy Constitution
With new leaders at the helm
When freedom finds full fruition
Evil will not overwhelm

In Thy Shadow

Thou art my rock and my fortress
House of defence to save me
From the wicked and the lawless
Who are on a killing spree

May no victim be forgotten
And no sacrifice be vain
Rid our land of all that’s rotten
And let righteousness remain

Bless and keep Zim’s rightful rulers
Who were pillaged at the post
Let level-headed counsellors
Hold true freedom uppermost

Free us from violence and fear
And grant us holy boldness
To make one simple message clear
We won’t bow down to badness

All demigods will have to go
Along with every idol
Change must replace the status quo
Silence is suicidal

All is not well the watchman cries
This is no time to slumber
Rise up against all hackneyed lies
And evils which encumber

Storm the heavens with petitions
Give the Lord of Hosts no rest
Till He deals with politicians
Who are worse than second-best

Deliver by Thy mighty hand
Lord Thou art our strong tower
A great rock in a weary land
Please manifest Thy power

God Bless Women of Zimbabwe

duaneThrough dark hours of lengthy labour
Pangs increase intensity
Husband family friend or neighbour
Need to know their frequency

Suffering should shed its silence
Angst or anguish should be shared
To end all needless violence
Minds like bodies may be bared

Shame despised as joy beyond it
Helps us to endure our cross
Hope and patience have great merit
Even in the face of loss

Barrenness will be behind us
Fruitful years stretch far ahead
Though for now we face a huge fuss
New life will spring forth instead

From the Source of all creation
Flows our creativity
Giving birth brings great elation
Like our Lord’s Nativity

Kings like Herod still may threaten
Till God terminates their terms
Causes now seem so uncertain
Hateful Herod died of worms

God will still preserve our offspring
They will rise to call us blest
Faith must be our mighty mainspring
Through travail or trial and test

Angels need make no announcement
Labour bears laughter and mirth
Strong Zim women make pronouncement
Of Zimbabwe’s bright rebirth

A Woman Weeps for Zimbabwe

duaneSovereign Lord of all creation
Hear this poor Zim woman’s prayer
Heal our wounded bleeding nation
By Your tender loving care

Sons and fathers still are dying
Though they say our land is free
Put an end to greed and lying
For these things ought not to be

Grant us leaders with great vision
Who will see beyond their wants
Nations hold us in derision
When our laws a leader flaunts

Many people now are starving
Food alone won’t meet their needs
Whilst fine farmlands endure carving
Some young girls wear widows’ weeds

Violence in every region
Is the order of the day
Stressful symptoms now are legion
Even doctors fly away

Truth and fiction mingle freely
Till most minds become confused
Wondering what matters really
When our media’s abused

Give us hope beyond all hoping
Faith to work with joy and love
Helping those who are not coping
With Your wisdom from above

Lord in mercy hear our heart’s cry
Only by Your grace we stand
May Zimbabwe live and not die
Father come and heal our land

A Prayer for Zimbabwe

duaneGod grant us a Constitution
Fit to stand the tests of time
Freed from hate and retribution
Grace becomes our paradigm

Let all Nature rise to thank Thee
For your Wisdom from above
Help us find that tried and true Key
That unlocks the Gates of Love

May all men women and children
Find respect for who they are
Whether simple souls or statesmen
We should all be on a par

Give us all a greater measure
Both of patience and desire
To create a priceless treasure
That will hold up under fire

Not for naught is our conundrum
When one segment flanuts the law
Overturns a referendum
As though Heaven never saw

No election gave a mandate
For those men to grab the reins
Why should their words carry more weight
Your Majority remains

Humble them before our eyes Lord
Please forgive them for their sins
Hitlers all harangue Hell’s hate horde
Yet we know your Justice wins

Rule and overrule Good Master
So that we may start afresh
YES wil then spell no disaster
If Your mind and our minds mesh
